The Torque Rod has multi-functional role in truck and trailer suspensions. It controls driveline angles of the vehicle, restrains rotation of the axle housing while accelerating and braking, locates the axle and maintain alignment and absorbs leaning & corning forces.
HVPL Torque Rods provide lateral support for suspension. They also provide greater stability and roll stiffness as well as keep the axle centered laterally and control axle walk-out on rear suspension.
HVPL’s truck torque rods feature longer life, lower cost-per-mile bushings that are easier to install and require no maintenance or grease. The rotating bushings in our torque rods make installation easy and they automatically zero out to ride height. There's no need to worry about marking the bolt hole position when rebushing the rod with HVPL bushings since the pins rotate 360 degrees. HVPL’s bushings are chemically resistant to contaminates such as road salt, grease, oil, acidic cleaning solvents, hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel.
All HVPL Torque and Transverse rods with ratings of 52K and below utilize the HVPL ROD design. HVPL ROD is lighter and more compact than conventional rods. The forged construction produces greater structural integrity, while the unique bonded bushing reduces the friction and heat that damages ordinary bushings - providing longer life and greater payload. HVPL RODS are available in one or two piece configurations. Torque Rods - Longitudinal torque rods help maintain optimum driveline angles by absorbing axle braking and driving torque. This ultimately reduces vibration and helps prolong the life of driveline components. Transverse Rods - Provide lateral support for HVPL suspensions by transmitting loads directly into the frame, instead of through the suspension. This provides greater stability and roll stiffness as well as keeping the axle centered laterally and controlling axle walkout on walking beam suspensions.
